Arsenal have joined the race to sign Manchester City star Sergio Aguero, according to reports.
The Argentine’s future has come under the spotlight on several occasions this season and reports linking him with a move away from the Etihad became strong this week.
First there were reports that he doesn’t fit into Guardiola’s philosophy after the Spaniard left him out of the starting xi for a big Champions League game against Barcelona earlier in the season and those reports resurfaced again after he was left on the bench in City’s last two league games with young Brazilian Gabriel Jesus ahead of him.
Reports suggest Aguero’s City future is under threat and the player was uncertain if he will stay at the Etihad beyond this campaign but it is understood that City want to keep the striker.
Calcio Mercato via the Express claim the forward actually wants to leave the Eithad and Arsenal are interested in signing him.
However, we are not the only ones interested in the Argentine as another Italian newspaper claim Inter Milan, Chelsea and Real Madrid are also keen on his services.
But Calcio Mercato reckons that Wenger is ready to fight hard to sign the player.
I don’t know how true this claim is because it is coming from an unlikely source but Arsenal could do well with Aguero. Although we have a lot of options upfront at the moment, none of them can be compared to the former Atletico man. We have lacked a top striker since Robin Van Persie joined Manchester United and a move for Aguero will definitely excite Gooners.
Aguero’s arrival could also go a long way to convince Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez to stay with us, in turn boosting our chances of competing for titles at the top level in subsequent seasons.
