Arsene Wenger has continued to brush aside talks concerning his future, insisting it is irrelevant at the moment.

The French tactician’s contract expires at the end of the season and he is yet to decide whether he will sign a new deal or not.

Recently, The Telegraph revealed Wenger has an offer on his table already and all that is left is for him to sign it but the boss has refused to be drawn on the issue.

When asked about his future, Wenger said:

“Look, what matters is ideally you want everybody to be happy, but as well I think Arsenal is made of special strengths and that strength is to be united when it doesn’t go as well,” he said.

“It’s very nice for you to take care of how I feel, but it’s not the most important. I am a professional and I have to do a job and that’s what I want to do.

“My future is in front of me every time I make a half turn. What is important for me is that Arsenal football club goes well and I dedicate my whole energy for the club to do well.

“Nothing has changed compared to last week and that’s basically it. I’ve nothing to add to what I said last week.”

The uncertainty surrounding Wenger’s future and his refusal to address it is getting some of us worried already.

Transition is not always an easy thing and especially for a manager like Wenger who has spent two decades with us, it is definitely going to be difficult to replace him. In an ideal situation, he shouldn’t be keeping us until the last minute so as to afford us enough time to look for a replacement.

I don’t think his decision to remain undecided is the best for us as a club and it’s a good thing that club chiefs have begun to identify potential replacements, assuming we have to believe other previous reports.
