Arsenal have joined the race to sign AS Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko, according to Le10Sport.
The Gunners have been linked with a host of midfielders since the beginning of this winter transfer window and Bakayoko is said to be high on Wenger’s wish list.
Arsenal’s midfield has been depleted following injuries to Santi Cazorla, Aaron Ramsey and Mohammed Elneny and Le10Sport claims Arsenal have identified Bakayoko as the man to shore up the Gunners midfield in summer.
The 22-year-old has been one of Monaco’s star performers this season and Arsenal scouts have been more than impressed with his performances.
The report further claims we have made a “concrete approach” to sign the midfielder this month.
Manchester United are also heavily linked with a move for the Les Bleus star and recent reports have suggested that he can be lured for a fee of 45 million euros ($48million) (SW via L’Equipe).
The Premier League duo have made contact with Monaco but have been told that the player is not for sale.
It remains to be seen if Wenger would be able to use his French ties to convince Monaco into selling the midfielder but one thing is certain, it would be a difficult deal to complete.
