Arsenal are one of the five Premier League clubs monitoring Ross Barkley’s situation at Everton, according to the Daily Star.
Barkley has been in and out of Ronald Koman’s starting xi this season and is reportedly keeping his options open ahead of a summer move.
The midfielder’s contract expires at the end of next season and Everton are keen to tie him down to a new long term contract but he doesn’t have the best relationship with Norman, so he isn’t in a hurry to commit his future to the club.
It is believed Barkley wants to take his time to consider his future and this has reportedly alerted a host of top PL clubs.
According to the Express, Arsenal alongside Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham are all watching the midfielder’s situation with keen interest.
Spurs attempted to sign the midfielder in the just concluded transfer window but Everton were not willing to sell one of their star players.
Previous reports suggested that Wenger sees the midfielder as a possible replacement for Mesut Ozil who is stalling on signing a new contract.
With Barkley’s future now hanging on the balance, It remains to be seen whether wenger will step up his interest in the midfielder but I wouldn’t be shocked if we make a bid to bring him to the Emirates.
Considering his huge potential, I would welcome a move for Barkley but not as a replacement for Ozil.
