According to the Daily Mail via Tribal Football, Arsenal’s dressing room has been divided into two halves because of Wenger’s relationship with Ozil.
Ozil has been in the news for different reasons this season. First, it was his future and now it is his commitment. The midfielder is yet to sign a new contract with Arsenal and Gooners are worried that one of the club’s best players could leave this summer. There is a even bigger reason to worry if this report is true.
Following his poor performance in Arsenal’s 3-1 defeat to Chelsea a fortnight ago, Ozil was criticized by some fans who claim he often goes missing in big games but Wenger has strongly defended the midfielder in public and the Daily Mail claim some factions in the dressing room feels the German is giving a preferential treatment by the boss.
The report claims some of our Stars were disappointed with Ozil for his failure to challenge Ashley Williams when we were defending a set piece against Everton in December which led to a 2-1 loss. Subsequent poor performances against Chelsea and Manchester City have also raised eyebrows within our squad but Wenger has stood by the midfielder in all of these. Some players are now unhappy with Wenger’s handling of the issue.
I don’t know how true these claims are but if true, it will be difficult for Arsenal in the coming weeks as this could have a negative effect on the team’s morale in a crucial stage of the season when we need to stay together. Also it will also reduce our chances of convincing the Germanto sign a new long term deal which could lead to his exit in the summer transfer window.
I just hope this isn’t true because the consequences will be very bad for us as a team.
