Fenerbahce are interested in signing Santi Cazorla, according to Turkishfootball.com.
Cazorla’s Arsenal future is currently clouded with uncertainty. The midfielder hasn’t featured for the Gunners since October and his long absence coupled with suspension and injuries to other players left Arsenal short of midfield options throughout January.
Wenger is expected to bring in a new midfielder in the summer which could increase competition for midfield places and throw the future of some of the existing players into doubt.
According to the report, Fenerbahce are exploring the possibility of signing Cazorla and have been approached via agents who are expected to push through a deal.
The Turkish giants have been boosted by the uncertainty surrounding the midfielder’s future. His contract expires at the end of this season and we are still unsure of the club has extended his contract or not. A private document which was submitted to the FA in December showed that we have exercised our option to renew his current deal for a further one year but there have been no official announcement on that from the club.
Arsenal’s plans for Cazorla is unknown at the moment but a decision isn’t expected to be made until he returns from injury. Ideally, Wenger would want the midfielder to prove his fitness when he returns and if he is able to do that, he would stay with us for at least one more year.
