Arsenal are planning to replace Petr Cech with Wojciech Szczesny when his loan spell at Roma ends.
The Poland goalkeeper is currently on a season-long loan at Roma and has become a key player for the Serie A side already. Reports had claimed Roma boss Luciano Spalletti is keen to sign the goalkeeper on a permanent deal but they could be disappointed as Arsenal now have a plan to retain the goalkeeper when he returns from his loan Spell.
According to II Tempo, Arsenal wants Szczesny to replace Petr Cech next season.
The report claims Arsenal want to increase the level of competition in the goalkeeping department next season and believe the return of Szczesny will provide Cech more competition and give us another option that isn’t Ospina.
Whether it has been Arsenal’s plan all these while to bring Szczesny back is something I’m not sure of but obviously he has improved as a player compared to when he first left us two years ago.
However I don’t see the possibility of keeping Szczesny, Cech and Ospina together next season, so one of the latter two will have to leave if the former returns to the Emirates.
Cech has been inconsistent in recent weeks, making high-profile mistakes while Ospina who is in charge of cup games gave a good account of himself in the game against Bayern Munich despite conceding five goals but if you ask me, I think Ospina will be more vulnerable if Szczesny returns.
