Manchester United and Arsenal could go head to head in the race to sign Porto striker Andre Silva, according to reports.
Silva has been very impressive for Porto this season and the Gunners have been alerted by his superb performances.
The 21-year-old has already notched up 13 league goals and four Champions League goals for his team this season and is showing he has the potential to become Portugal’s next big striker.
According to the Express, Arsenal and Manchester United are interested in the striker and they both sent scouts to watch the lad in Porto’s Champions League game against Juventus on Wednesday.
The report also claimed scouts from Manchester City and Middlesbrough were present to watch how the striker would fare against one of Europe’s best defense.
However, they were all disappointed when the striker was withdrawn in the first half after his team went a man down.
Porto have won the last six matches that silva has played, with the striker chipping in with three goals and three assists to help his team keep up with Benfica in the Portuguese league title race.
From the previous report, the young man has a £52m release clause which his club must be activated if we are to have any chance of signing him. It remains to be seen if Arsenal will want to spend such huge bucks on a player who is still in his formative years.
