Arsenal are leading the race to sign AS Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko, according to reports.
Last week, reports emerged that the Gunners have joined Chelsea and Manchester United in the race to sign the defensive midfielder. It was claimed that an approach was made to sign the 22-year-old and it appears the outcome of that approach was a positive one.
According to the Sun, Arsenal are now the favourites to sign Bakayoko. with Monaco have reportedly slapped a £52million price-tag on him.
The midfielder has been one of Monaco’s best players this season and has attracted a host of top clubs with his performances.
The Gunners are now front of the queue to sign him but that is not to say it will be an easy deal to pull off.
Sport Mediaset also claim that Juventus are interested in the midfielder not to mention Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool who have been monitoring the young man for quite sometime. They are all expected to give Arsenal serious competition for his services when the season ends.
Arsenal have strong ties in France which have enable us work with a lot of French players in the past and obviously it is that relationship that has placed us ahead of our rivals in the race to sign Bakayoko.
I hope we can complete this deal because the midfield position is one area that needs to be looked into if we want to challenge for titles next season.
