French football expert Julien Laurens believes Arsenal will be one of the clubs chasing Alexandre Lacazette in the summer.
The Gunners were interested in signing the striker last summer but couldn’t convince Lyon to part with their prize asset. The French club rejected a £29m bid from Arsenal and blocked every other channel of communication as regards signing the striker.
However, recent reports are claiming that the French club will listen to offers should they receive a good offer for the striker.
Although it’s being reported that Lyon have placed a price tag of £60m on the striker, Lauren believes a bid of about £40m should be enough to sign him.
Laurens said: “[Lyon] say, ‘We have to balance the books, we need to sell’, as quoted by The Daily Star.
“He could go to England – whether that’s Arsenal, Liverpool or Tottenham I don’t know.
“They will have to pay around £40-£50m if you want him.”
Lacazette has been in fine form for Lyon this season, scoring 21 goals in 21 league appearances and should he keep up this level of performance until the end of the season, he would definitely secure a big money move away from Lyon.
As for Arsenal, it is not yet clear what our summer plans are at the moment. The uncertainty surrounding Wenger’s future is making it difficult for us to predict what will happen in the summer but I reckon we will make a move for Lacazette if Wenger stays.
