The Only Reason Why I Will Play For Arsenal Next Summer- Star Man Reveals

Goonersden brings you news from top football news sites from the likes of ESPN, SkySport, Daily Mail, Daily Star and Metro… We also Analyse football, player, transfer and predict Arsenal starting line-up.

Wojciech Szczesny has told reporters in his homeland that he will only return to Arsenal next season if he is guaranteed a first team spot.

The Poland shot-stopper has spent the last two seasons on loan at AS Roma and has established himself as one of Europe’s top goalkeepers. He has greatly matured over the last two years and there are suggestions in some corners that he should return to the Emirates to provide stiff competition for Petr Cech.

But the goalkeeper has suggested that he will only join a club where he will be a regular in the starting xi.

“I concentrate on playing well, not reading newspapers,” Szczesny told Przeglądu Sportowego, as quoted by Daily Cannon.

“ But actually, this season more my attitude on the pitch is good. Poor – very rare. I’m glad, but the end of the season is a couple of months away and I’m going to not only maintain the current spirit, but even improve it.

“With good performances, people are more interested in what I do on the pitch. They stopped focussing on what’s around me. I am first and foremost footballer, I always wanted that and I would just seen me [?].

“I have peace and privacy, which I deeply appreciate.

“I believe that my character in the last rounds of Serie A will be appropriate, that the summer will allow me to choose a club where I will be number one.”

With Petr Cech’s inconsistent form this season, Szczesny could go a long way to improve our goalkeeping department next season. He has shown that he has what it takes to play at the top level and I won’t be surprised if a host of big clubs try to sign him at the end of the season.

The decision is Arsenal’s to make but one thing is certain, he won’t come back to sit on the bench and he doesn’t deserve to either because he is far better than that. Maybe Wenger can find a way to strike an agreement between the Pole and Cech just like he has done this season but that means Ospina will have to head out of the club.
