According to reports from the Daily Mail, Arsenal could suffer an early transfer blow as they are set to miss out on Alexandre Lacazette this summer after Atletico Madrid agreed to a £50m deal in principle for the Lyon striker.

Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas has indicated if the right fee is offered for him he would be allowed and Arsenal have been put on red alert.

‘Alex had a good option with a club that is in his heart,’ Aulas said. ‘If the club of his heart is able to match our demands – as Barcelona did last season for Sam Umtiti – then things will go well. Otherwise, it will depend on our other business.

‘But if any players feel that this club is not big enough for them, we will look for others who are just as strong but have the right mentality as well.

‘If there are departures, this money will be used to recruit new players.’

‘Personally I have great esteem for Bruno but there will be a meeting of the board to be held after the Nice match to validate my proposals,’ he said.

‘That does not prevent me from saying I have no doubt that he will be the coach of OL next season.’

Lacazette has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates in the previous transfer window, Lyon released a statement last summer to confirm they had turned down a significant bid from Arsenal for the Frenchman.

Atletico Madrid could lose Antoine Griezmann this summer but, according to the Mirror, they’ve lined up his replacement by putting a deal in place for Lacazette.

The 25-year-old is a product of Lyon’s academy; he has scored 127 in 274 appearances.
