According to reports, Kieran Gibbs would be the subject of interest from Premier League new boys Newcastle United and Brighton and Hove Albion when the summer transfer window opens in July.
The England international has been linked with a move away from the Emirates since last year January transfer window but he has somehow managed to remain at the club. However, those speculations about the defender’s future has refused to die down and with Wenger believed to be in search of a new left-back, his future has been thrown into doubt again.
According to The Sun via HITC Sport, Newcastle United and Brighton are interested in signing Gibbs.
Both clubs are set to feature in the Premier League next season after winning automatic promotion from the Championship a fortnight ago. The belief is that Gibbs who has made just seven Premier League starts this season could seek for regular playing time elsewhere if a new left-back comes in. However, a move to either of the newly promoted sides may not appeal to the defender.
Gibbs have enough quality to play for a mid-table Premier League side and he will definitely be holding out for a move to such clubs if he has to leave Arsenal.
The defender has been at Arsenal since 2004 and a move to an established Premier League club would just give him the much needed environment to resurrect his career.
He’ll definitely receive offers from other clubs as the transfer window progresses, only if he is patient.
