Arsenal have joined the race to sign £50m rated Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, according to The Sun.

Wenger has reportedly made signing a striker one of his priorities this summer and has been linked with a host of names. The latest of those names is Morata who is said to be keen on a move away from the Bernabeu.

The 24 year old Spanish international has found game time difficult to come by at Madrid, stuck firmly behind Karim Benzema in Zidane’s pecking order, despite boasting a superior goal record than the French man and he is now keen on a move to a club where he can play regularly.

Chelsea have been linked with a move for the Spaniard for majority of the season and it is believed West London is his likeliest destination due to the presence of Antonio Conte.

However, Arsenal are also keen on a big money move for the striker.

The Sun claims Wenger sees Morata as a replacement for Alexis Sanchez who is still being linked with a move away from the Emirates. Any move for the Spaniard is expected to be a club record deal which will smash the £42.5m we paid for Mesut Ozil in 2013.

Morata who has 20 goals in all competitions to his name this season despite limited opportunities has shown that he has the potential to play at the top level and it is not surprising that Wenger is keen on his services.

Arsenal will have to work hard and act quickly if we are to have any chance of beating Chelsea to his signature. The Blues appear to be undecided whether to make a move for the Spaniard or Everton’s Romelu Lukaku and we could just use that to our own advantage.
