Arsenal On The VERGE Of Signing Powerhouse Midfielder

Goonersden brings you news from top football news sites from the likes of ESPN, SkySport, Daily Mail, Daily Star and Metro… We also Analyse football, player, transfer and predict Arsenal starting line-up.

Arsenal are interested in signing Olympic Lyon midfielder Corentin Tolisso, according to The Mirror.

Wenger is said to be keen on midfield reinforcements this summer and the French man is a big admirer of the Lyon midfielder. Arsenal have been on Tolisso’s trail for quite some time and we could now face paying up to £30m for his services.

The player is said to be keen on leaving Lyon this summer to a big club in a bid to boost his chances of making the France 2018 world cup squad and Wenger is willing to offer him that opportunity.

Arsenal’s pursuit of the midfielder could be aided by the fact that he is a big fan of the club. Speaking in an interview last October, Tolisso declared his love for the Premier League, in the process revealing that he dreams of being a Gunner.

‘Many clubs make me dream like Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and England with teams like Arsenal.

‘I love the Premier League and I think I have the profile. This is the championship that also offers more competition, which is the most open, the most contested and most spectacular.’

Arsenal may seem to have enough numbers in midfield with Xhaka, Coquelin, Ramsey, Cazorla all at Wenger’s disposal but Gooners are better placed to know that an additional midfielder will do us a whole lot of good next term.

In January, we suffered a mini-midfield crisis which ultimately led to our falling out of the title race, must be avoided next season if we must do better next year and signing Tolisso will give us the much-needed quality and numbers in terms of squad depth.
