Reports in Spain are claiming Hector Bellerin will consider leaving Arsenal this summer after the Gunners missed out in qualifying for the Champions League next season.

The defender was the subject of interest from Manchester City and Barcelona last summer but Wenger rebuffed all enquiries made about the 22-year-old, insisting he wasn’t for sale.

Arsenal have since demonstrated their unwillingness to sell the defender by securing his future for the next six-and-a-half years but that hasn’t deterred suitors, with Barcelona still keen on the defender.

The Spanish giants are reportedly prepared to force Arsenal into selling by offering a mouthwatering bid.

Mundo Deportivo [via The Daily Star] are claiming Barcelona could receive a huge boost in its attempt to sign the defender as the defender wants a move away from the Emirates after Arsenal missing out on Champions League football.

They reckon Barca has a good chance of signing the defender who they view as a long-term replacement for Dani Alves.

Wenger has time without number insisted that Bellerin will not be sold at any cost but Mundo Deportivo say Barca have been in talks over signing the player for sometime and have been able to get a price from Arsenal, with £42m quoted.

Obviously this doesn’t sound true because there is no way Wenger would want to lose its best players when he is considering strengthening the squad.

For each week that passes, a Bellerin to Barca article emerges but the funny thing is they all emerge from Spain. While there is no doubt about the Catalan club’s interest in the defender, it is obvious that the Spanish media is doing everything possible to turn the Spaniard’s  head. I hope it doesn’t work.
