Goonersden.com previously reported Arsenal are planning a summer raid for Real Madrid unwanted star James Rodriguez.
And now reports from Spain suggest Arsenal are in pole position ahead of Chelsea and Manchester United for his signature. United were reported to be ready to throw Rodriguez a lifeline and make a £60million bid for the player.
But now it has been claimed that the Gunners have made an offer – but it is less than what Madrid are asking for.
According to Spanish TV show El Chiringuito (via The Express) Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has already tabled a £69.8M bid which has been rejected by the Spanish champions, but that The Gunners could now return with an improved offer.
However, Rodriguez, 25, is now said to be in talks with PSG after leaving his agent Jorge Mendes to settle his future, and the Ligue 1 giants seem the current favourites to land him for around £61million, according to France Football.
