It seems chances of outbound Barcelona star Arda Turan to make the switch to the Emirates has been cut short after reports claimed Arsene Wenger confirmed he doesn’t want “trouble markers” in his team.
Arda Turan has retired from international football after making a physical and verbal attack on a journalist traveling with the Turkish national squad.
The Turkey coach Fatih Terim expelled him from the squad after the incident and the player has since decided to retire from international football.
“I am putting an end to my national team career. I am speaking as someone who has served at every level of the national team, who loves his country and is in love with this jersey,” said Turan.
Despite all that, Barcelona are keen on offloading him this summer and have even reduced his asking price to £19m for Wenger to come get him this summer.
New Barca boss Ernesto Valverde is planning a mass overhaul of his squad as he bids to reclaim the La Liga title from Real Madrid next season.
Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for the Turkey international as Wenger looks to bring marquee signings to the Emirates next season.
