Reports in France suggest Arsenal target Thomas Lemar is holding off talks over a new contract with the Ligue 1 Champions Monaco as he is waiting to see if Arsenal will follow up their interest.
Arsenal have been with linked with the 21-year-old with L’Equipe claiming Arsene Wenger could make a move for him this season.
Two weeks ago, L’Equipe reported that Lemar was open to joining Arsenal this summer, even though the club will not be playing in the Champions League next season.
The player has three years left on his current contract but it is claimed he has yet to extend that this summer amid.
Lemar, had previously been linked with Arsenal’s bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspurs.
ESPN reported Tottenham Hotspur captain Hugo Lloris had been asked if he’d spoken with his fellow French international team-mate over a potential switch.
‘You are right to ask the question, but I cannot reply,’ the goalkeeper told reporters with a smile on his face after France’s 3-2 win over England.
But the Spurs captain remained tight-lipped over any move.
Monaco are also reportedly open to selling the France international but only if an offer of €30 million (£26m) is received.
