According to reports, Arsenal have been handed a massive boost in signing Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon this season.
Reports from the Daily Star suggest Arsenal are in advanced position in signing the Frenchman after serious negotiation and a swap deal considered.
The Gunners had one bid – rumoured to be £28.5m – for Lacazette rejected last summer and Lyon were said to be angered by the derisory nature of the offer.
And now the Sun reports Lyon’s president Jean-Michel Aulas has confirmed the club have received a ‘very nice offer from Arsenal’ for Alexandre Lacazette.
Arsene Wenger is believed to be a serious admirer of the French striker who reportedly snubbed Arsenal to join Atletico Madrid this summer but saw his dreams end once the La Liga giants had their transfer ban upheld until 2018.
During a Q&A session on Friday, Aulas said: “Lacazette was told he could leave.
“We now have a very nice offer from Arsenal. But for us he will not leave.”
France international Lacazette had agreed on a deal to join La Liga giants Atletico Madrid earlier this summer.
Lacazette fuelled rumours that he was moving to the Emirates earlier this month by insisting he was happy to play in the Europa League next term.
The 26-year-old has been sensational for Lyon, having scored 129 goals in just 275 games for the Ligue 1 club.
Earlier this week, Aulas and club boss Gerard Houllier flew to London to talk through a potential transfer with Arsenal.
