According to reports making the round, Arsene Wenger’ striker woes continue as Takuma Asano fails work permit guidelines.
Asano will remain at Stuttgart next season after failing to meet work permit guidelines.
The 22-year-old joined the Gunners last summer from Japanese side Sanfrecce Hiroshima but was immediately sent on loan to Stuttgart due to work permit issues.
It was hoped Asano would be eligible to begin his Arsenal career next term with three clauses included in Asano’s contract which would have allowed the Gunners to terminate the deal.
But according to German publication Bild, the Japan International still does not qualify for a work permit because he has not played enough games in the last two years and it means he will now remain at Stuttgart for another year.
Last summer, Wenger claimed the striker was one for the future: He said: “Takuma is a talented young striker and very much one for the future.
“He has had an impressive start to his career in Japan and we look forward to him developing over the next couple of years.”
Asano impressed at Rio 2016, where he scored two goals in three games.
Last season he scored four times and overall amassed 13 goals in 43 matches for club and country.
Now Stuttgart’s sporting director Jan Schindelmeiser has confirmed Asano will stay in Germany next season, too.
