Former gunner Ray Parlour has revealed one of the key signing Arsene Wenger would be looking to make is a possible long term replacement for Santi Cazorla.
Cazorla has a contract until the end of next season after Arsenal activated a clause in his deal to extend his stay at the club.
The Spaniard has been ruled out of action for the Gunners since October last year due to an Achilles problem and which is likely to keep him out for another few months also.
“He’s been struggling with his Achilles, they really missed him last season,” Parlour said on talkSPORT.
“I’m sure that Arsenal would be looking into the market to try and attract a player of his quality. It’s very hard to find, he’s a superb player.
“If you could get Cazorla at 23-years-old now, that’s the sort of player they need, who can open doors up for you.
“I think the midfield at the moment, I think (Granit) Xhaka had a good end to the season as well, but they are very similar sorts of
“(Mohamed) Elneny, (Francis) Coquelin, they need that little bit of creativity to get through the lines.
“To make sure if (Mesut) Ozil stays to get him on the ball a little bit more and get (Alexis) Sanchez on the ball a little bit more.
“That’s the sort of player they need in the transfer window coming up.”
Cazorla has been at Arsenal since 2012, after joining from La Liga side Malaga.
Arsenal have been linked with a host of star players this summer, the likes of Jean Michale Seri, Thomas Lemar, juan cuadrado and Adra Truna.
