Reports from France suggest Arsenal are on the verge of signing Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette for a club-record fee, the French club’s president has confirmed.
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas told French newspaper Le Progres that the deal is “one or two days” away from being finalised and will be worth upward of €50 million plus add-ons.
Now a photoshopped picture of the star striker in Arsenal jersey has been making the round fuelling a deal will be announced this week.
And Arsene Wenger received a massive boost with the Ligue 1 side’s president revealing the striker is determined to leave.
Jean-Michel Aulas says that he is preparing for Lacazette’s exit – but will only let him leave if he can find a replacement.
Aulas said: “Alexandre should have left for Atletico, but that could not be done.
“He wants to leave and we want to keep him, but the decision is not made.
“The case would obviously be the arrival of a player capable of scoring 25 to 30 goals per year.
“It will be a French international or a player of a very large European club.”
