Arsenal are reportedly considering a transfer move for highly-rated Toulouse goalkeeper Alban Lafont as a replacement for current backup ‘keeper David Ospina who has been heavily linked with a move from the Emirate Stadium this summer.
Ospina has expressed his frustration in playing second fiddle to Petr Cech and want more regular play time at Arsenal.
The Toulouse stopper is just 18 but has already racked up more than 60 appearances in two impressive seasons for the Ligue 1 club.
Lafont, who made his first-team debut at just 16 in 2015, kept 11 clean sheets last season.
He has been impressive in France over the last couple of seasons, becoming a first-teamer in 2015/16 when still only 16 years of age.
Upon making his debut aged 16 years and 310 days, the France Under-20 international became Ligue 1’s youngest ever goalkeeper, and his performances have now caught Arsenal’s eye, according to Le 10 Sport.
Arsenal are yet to make an offer for the youngster but are assessing their options with Saint-Etienne goalkeeper Stephane Ruffier also thought to be on Wenger’s radar.
Le 10 Sport also added that Arsenal boss Wenger had been watching Saint-Etienne keeper Stephane Ruffier, with scouts on his trail last season.
