Arsenal have officially promoted Ainsley Maitland-Niles into the first team squad ahead of next season.
Maitland-Niles was happy to be part of Arsenal’s friendly win over Western Sydney Wanderers.
The youngster started for the 3-1 win.
“It felt alright at the beginning. The pitch was a bit hard so it took me awhile to get into the game but I found it comfortable at the end, so it was alright,” he said.
“There’s always pressure when you’re in big stadiums with all the fans there. I think the most pressure was the quick turnaround of the games. We’re not used to that and just had to deal with it really.”
He is a graduate of Arsenal’s Hale End academy system and has developed well since signing scholarship terms four years ago.
Maitland-Niles is naturally a winger but has been frequently deployed as a central-midfielder in recent seasons.
The youngster, who turns 20 next month, has been wearing the number 30 shirt in pre-season.
