Spanish international Hector Bellerin has confirmed he will remain at the Emirate Stadium despite been heavily linked with a move back to Barcelona this summer.
The right-back has been on holiday in Cuba after reaching the finals of the European Under-21 Championship with Spain last month.
Reports earlier last month claimed Barca have discussed a £26m move with the Gunners for Bellerin and his family had already relocated back to Spain fuelling speculation that he was set to return back to Barcelona.
However, it’s understood Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis sent a ‘strongly worded’ letter to Barca which has put the Catalan giants off making an offer.
‘Going back to London like…’ Bellerin joked on Instagram alongside a picture of the Spaniard paddle boarding.
On Barca’s pursuit of Bellerin, club legend Xavi recently told Sport: ‘I haven’t seen him play much, but I’ll say one thing: it would be difficult for me to sign a player we’d already had.
‘Yes, it can turn out good, bad or average. But I’m not in favour of re-signing players who have left.
‘Why do they leave at 16 or 17? It seems ridiculous to me. I don’t understand it.’
