Arsenal head coach Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Alexis Sanchez will begin training with his teammates on Sunday as the Gunners forward look to find full fitness before the start of the 2017/18 Premier League season.
Copa America winner forward and Shkodran Mustafi are both left out from the Gunners squad in their pre-season preparations after both of them participated at Confederation Cup
Sanchez future has been up in the air all summer long as Chilean yet to sign an extension with the club as his current deal set to expire next season.
Wenger, however, has confirmed that Sanchez will resume training this weekend while the rest of his teammate will participate at Emirates cup.
“Alexis and Mustafi, their first training session will be on Sunday, the day we play against Sevilla,” Wenger said.
“They are practising on the day, yes. First of all you make a really good check up of where they are, how much they have worked during their break.”
Wenger admits that both Mustafi and Sanchez will return to training on Sunday.
“Once you know where you stand, they need an adjusted programme and to see how quickly you can fit them in again,” Wenger said.
“Of course it depends as well on what is the need in the squad, what is their quality.
“All of these things together make your decision. Do you put them on the bench when they are not ready [to start]”
