Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is of the opinion that Chelsea new signing Alvaro Morata is ‘less of a goalscorer’ than their former striker Diego Costa. The French boss expects the premier league champions to defend their title appropriately this campaign.
Morata became the blues record signing after joining in a £70 million deal from La Liga side Real Madrid last month.
The club’s Italian boss Antonio Conte has already told Diego Costa at the end of last season that he will not be part of his plans at Stamford Bridge for the upcoming campaign and the former Atletico Madrid forward is on the hunt for a new club.
He has been heavily linked with a move back to his former Spanish club in the Spanish capital wit reports that AC Milan are interested in him and have reportedly held talks with his agent over a potential move.
And speaking recently about Chelsea, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has hailed the club’s acquisition of Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco, but feels his London rivals may now have a different game plan upfront following the arrival of Alvaro.
‘Chelsea looks [like] they have kept the basis of the squad. They have replaced Diego with Alvaro – maybe less of a goalscorer than [Costa] but he can create more.’ Wenger said.
