Southampton are closing in on a deal to land Mario Lemina from Juventus, according to stories.

The 23-year-old has earlier been linked with a move to Sevilla as the section of a possible swap deal to take Steven N’Zonzi on the opposite side, while a host of Premier League sides containing Arsenal, Everton, Stoke City, Watford and West Ham United have also been credited with the interest.

But, RMC Sport suggests that Southampton have emerged as favourites to land the midfielder and could finalise the deal in the coming days.

The African will reportedly undergo a medical with the South Coast clubs on Sunday, with the two clubs believed to have agreed on a £16.2m fee.

Lemina played 19 Serie A games for Juventus last campaign, although only eight of those came from the start.

Meanwhile, Newcastle United are reportedly not ready to pay Arsenal’s asking fee of £13.4m for forward Lucas Perez.

The 28-year-old striker is believed to be keen to leave the Emirates this summer after failing to secure a regular first team place in the team last campaign.

Perez moved to the club from Deportivo La Coruna for £17m last summer. However, he played just 18 games in all tournaments, netting five goals and making two assists.

As reported the London Evening Standard, Newcastle are interested, but they are unwilling to match Arsenal’s cost and would prefer a loan capture.

Perez, who is also wanted by his ex-club Deportivo, earlier admitted that he feels cheated by Arsenal.
