According to reports, Arsenal are set to announce the transfer of highly-rated youngster Jeff Reine-Adelaide, if the transfer process goes according to plan.
French newspaper L’Equipe reports that Arsenal have offered the 19-year-old to FC Nantes. It is believed that the deal will see him ply his trade for the Ligue 1 side for the entire 2017/2018 season, as the player looks to gain more exposure and regular game time in France.
Reine-Adelaide is quite familiar with the terrains in France, having spent five years at Lens where he featured for the reserves before joining Arsenal in the summer of 2015. He only made six appearances for the first team last season, with those in the FA Cup and Capital One Cup competitions.
Reine Adelaide’s talent is not in doubt. His progress was stalled due to the injury sustained during the Arsenal’s FA Cup quarter-final 2-0 win against Sutton United. This influenced his exclusion from the Arsenal pre-season tour and he now looks set to get his career back on track in France.
Wenger is a huge admirer of the midfielder:
‘My belief is that Jeff is ready to play because he has it all in his locker – the strength, the physical power, the technical level,’ said Wenger.
‘He has to add efficiency to his game – that will come with games as well – but he will have an opportunity to show that I am right about him.
‘And part of a career is to grab your opportunity when you get it. So for Jeff, tonight could be an important night, but I am confident he will do well.’
Save for our ‘chocked’ midfield, a player of Jeff’s quality ought to have broken into the first team. The likes of Aaron Ramsey, Granit Xhaka and Mohamed Elneny are quite indispensable in the club’s midfield, hence his slow progress at the club. The return of Jack Wilshere offers more competition and it is in the Frenchman’s best interest that is loaned out to Nantes who finished seventh on the log last term
Here’s wishing the promising player a blissful stay at Nantes
