Former Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman reckons that there may be so much going on with Arsenal striker Alexis Sanchez that the Gunners fans are not aware of, reports the Express.
Sanchez returned to Arsenal late following an extended break and he is currently ruled out for three weeks with a abdominal injury. But there are theories that have been formulated as to his absence, as it is given that he may want a move away from Arsenal and not necessarily injured.
Sanchez has stalled over a new contract with Arsenal despite almost running out his current contract and he has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester City and Paris Saint Germain. There were report last week that Arsenal offered him £300k-a-week deal but nothing has been heard since then.
Seaman is wary of Arsenal losing Alexis Sanchez this summer and he’s pleaded to the Chilean to put pen to paper on a new deal with the Gunners amid speculation that he may be discussing a move with Paris Saint Germain.
He said: “I hope Alexis Sanchez will stay at Arsenal because I don’t want to see players of that quality leaving the club.
“They are the type of players you’re willing to play a load of money for to bring in.
“You don’t want to be letting them go but the situation with his contract, the club have a decision to make.
“Do they take the money for him or do they make him play the last year of his contract and lose the money?
“You ain’t going to replace him with better. It’s a difficult decision but I’m sure there’s stuff going on that we don’t really know about.
“I’m sure he would have been offered a contract last year. I just want him to stay because he’s a quality player.”
Sanchez posted a tweet from Paris after the Gunners game of Friday and that has fueled speculation of his possible departure from the club.
While Arsenal have seen transfer activities stalled since the signing of Alexandre Lacazette, the fans of Arsenal have called on Arsene Wenger to make at least one more signing before the close of the window.
