According to reports, Galatasaray are interested in signing Kieran Gibbs, who has been told he can leave Arsenal.
Gibbs, 27, is now third-choice left back at the club behind Nacho Monreal and Sead Kolasinac, who joined on a free transfer from Schalke last month.
The England defender, who has not featured in any of Arsenal’s match day squads so far this season, was of interest to Watford, but they pulled out of the running to sign the player after he refused to take a cut to his current wage packet, which is worth around £80,000 per week.
The report further notes that Galatasaray are looking at a possible £4m deal, but Arsenal are said to be holding out for a figure closer to £10m. Gibbs is currently in the final year of his contract.
Gibbs wouldn’t be alone in making the switch from the Premier League to Galatasaray after a number of players have made a similar journey in the past, with Emmanuel Eboue and Lukas Podolski specifically leaving Arsenal to join the Istanbul giants in 2011 and 2015 respectively.
