Arsene Wenger has a knack for doing business late on in the transfer window and those that think Arsenal have come-off the transfer window, may be in for a shocker.

Arsenal are preparing to launch a late stunning bid for French and Real Madrid star striker Karim Benzema, according to report.

Arsene Wenger is believed to be a staunch admirer of Benzema since he was lacing his boots for French outfit Lyon. The Gunners attempted to sign the goal poacher three seasons ago but with a similar tale, failed to meet the valuation of the player.

However, The Express claim, the Gunners are readying a late stunning move for Benzema on or before the deadline day of this transfer window.

Arsenal have spent only £52million on the signing of Alexandre Lacazette albeit Sead Kolasinac joined on a free transfer and Wenger has been criticised by all and sundry for failing to utilise Arsenal’s reported £200million transfer war chest – he just may be saving it for the last days.

Benzema has been a key figure in Los Blancos attack for some time now and the sale of Alvaro Morata to Chelsea means Madrid will not listen to offers for the star. Therefore, i’d rather dismiss his report as a huge joke.

However, Arsenal’s interest in Benzema stems from the uncertainty surrounding the future of Chilean international Alexis Sanchez, who has failed to put pen to paper on a new deal.

Sanchez is heavily linked with a move to Paris Saint Germain and Manchester City, with the latter reportedly preparing a £70m offer to prise him away from the Emirates.
