Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere turned down a £90,000-weekly contract bid from Birmingham City to remain on the edge of Arsene Wenger’s squad.

Birmingham Offered the England international a whopping £4.67million-yearly contract to join the Championship side.

Manager Harry Redknapp was ready to give the midfield maestro a new start after years of frustration at Emirate Stadium.

Wilshere’s Arsenal contract runs out this summer, and the 25-year-old Englishman had options to leave the North London club this summer transfer window.

But according to the Sunday Mirror, Jack Wilshere was not willing in dropping down to the lower division.

The Arsenal man played on loan at AFC Bournemouth last campaign, but he ended the season with an ankle problem that distorted his pre-season training.

The midfielder is not yet fully ready for first-team action but recently played for the reserves team, where he was red carded in a game against Manchester City.

Birmingham City manager Harry Redknapp lured in some players to the St Andrews Stadium this summer transfer window, but as reported by the Sunday Mirror, the boss could not convince the Arsenal man to join the Championship club.

Birmingham City currently occupies the 20th position in the second tier of English football – Championship, having secured just one win in their opening five matches of the season.
