Arsenal and Chelsea target Kostas Manolas is ready to get a £26million release clause inserted into his new contract.
The Greek international was very close to moving away from this summer before the Lupi sold Antonio Rudiger to Chelsea.
The Greece international’s current deal expires in June 2019, and he is deep in talks over fresh terms.
Roma want to tie the defender down after he was heavily linked with a move to Chelsea or Zenit St Petersburg in the summer.
The Roma defender’s agent, Yianni Evangelopoulos, was supposed to meet with sporting director Monchi by the end of September.
It looks like this has happened already, and that the two sides are nearing a deal that would see the 26-year-old earn €2.5m a season.
But, according to Corriere Dello Sport, Manolas’ new contract will include a release clause of £26m.
That news will be a huge boost for the likes of Chelsea, Juventus, Inter and Zenit, who remain interested in the 26-year-old.
Arsenal, who are long-term admirers of Manolas, could now also be tempted to rekindle their interest.
Kostas Manolas joined AS Roma in the summer of 2014 from Olympiacos for €15m. He played in 136 games so far and scored three goals for the Italian.
