A number of Arsene Wenger’s players are nearing a return to the first team

Injury type: Inflammation of the knee

Out since: Playing the last few minutes of the win against West Brom on September 25.

Expected return date: Watford (a) on October 14.

What Wenger said: “Some players will not go on the international break. Mesut Ozil because he has a knee inflammation.”

Laurent Koscielny

Injury type: Achilles

Out since: The win against West Brom on September 25.

Expected return date: Watford (a) on October 14.

What Wenger said: “Some players will not go on the international break. Laurent Koscielny because he’s injured with an Achilles problem.”

Danny Welbeck

Injury type: Groin strain

Out since: Pulling up in the closing stages of the 0-0 draw at Chelsea on September 17.

Expected return date: Watford (a) on October 14.

What Wenger said: “We don’t know how bad his groin injury is but he will certainly be out until the international break. His target is Watford.”

Francis Coquelin

What Wenger said: “The first signs are positive, but still he has not played for one and a half years.

“He is not in full training yet, he needs a few games with the reserve team. So I think if all goes well, it will be after Christmas.”

Calum Chambers

What Wenger said: “Chambers is injured again on the hip. It doesn’t look too bad, but I think he will be about again for one or two weeks.”

Shkodran Mustafi

Injury type: Muscle tear in his leg.

Expected return date: Unknown, some suggestions he could be out for two months.

What’s been said: (Germany coach Joachim Low): “I think Mustafi has a muscle tear. It looks a bit more serious.

“This will probably force him to have an extended layoff.”
