According to Sky Sports Germany’s transfer rumour page, Arsenal keeping tabs on the future of Marco Reus as it was announced that he could leave when his current contract with Borussia Dortmund expires in summer of 2018.
Reus is quoted as saying, in a recent interview with GQ Magazine:
“There are four or five international clubs who interest me. On May 31st next year, I will be 30. That would probably be my last big contract and a final opportunity to try something different…”
Like Santi Cazorla and his ankle, Reus is said to be out until the new year with an ACL injury so nothing is likely to happen just yet and the Dortmund Sporting Director (and part-time intergalactic villain) Michael Zorc said:
“We see Marco with us in the long run.”
It’s easy to see the player as a ready-made replacement for Alexis Sanchez, but whether or not Arsene Wenger would be willing to take a chance on a 30-year-old injury prone player remains to be seen. Manchester United are also said to be keeping tabs on the player.
Marco Reus joined Borussia Dortmund in summer of 2012 from Borussia Mönchengladbach for €17.1m reported transfer fee. He played in 189 games so far and scored 89 goals for his current club.
