The transfer window is yet months away from being opened but clubs have begun to keep tabs on players that will thick the boxes of their pitch and make them more formidable.

According to latest reports, Germany international and Borussia Dortmund winger Marco Reus is being closely watched by the officials of Manchester United and their capital rivals Arsenal.

Reus has been a key player for the Signa Iduna Park outfit but his knack for sustaining injuries has constantly left him on the sidelines of the club. He has been on the recovery pane since the May of this year following a ruptured cruciate ligament.

The winger scantily featured for Dortmund last term, where he managed just 24 appearances in all competitions. Nonetheless, German newspaper SportBild are running  report that Arsenal have joined United in the chase for the player.

Arsenal are currently uncertain of the future of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, who have been dubbed contract rebels because they refused to extend their contract with the club. Reus is been targeted as a direct replacement for Alexis Sanchez.

Meanwhile, after several attempts in the summer, United failed to sign their prime target Ivan Perisic and Mourinho is yet on the look out for assured wingers.

Arsenal should have an edge over this one as they have long been linked with the star and the presence of some German star at the club lure him to the Emirates.

So far, Reus has scored 89 goals in 189 appearances for Dortmund.
