19-year-old France and Arsenal midfielder Jeff Reine-Adelaide is the latest footballer to join the train of injuries currently engulfing many players all over England. Several clubs across England and indeed Europe have had to put up makeshift teams for games, due to injuries to key first-team players; and this has led to inconsistency in club performances.
In England, Chelsea have struggled in the wake of injuries to talismanic midfielder N’Golo Kante and star signing Alvaro Morata; while Manchester United have had to cope in the absence of star player Paul Pogba.
Now, Arsenal’s Reine-Adelaide has signed up for the growing list of injured players in England. According to reports, he had to be substituted halfway through the first half of an Arsenal U-23 match against Sunderland recently. Now, despite having only returned from an ankle injury that kept him out of all the Gunners’ pre-season engagements in China and Australia, the player appears set for another lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Despite being just 19 years of age, Reine-Adelaide is already a part of Arsenal’s first team squad. He featured for the Gunners in the EFL cup and the FA Cup last season, and would have been on the books for the Carabao cup this season.
Sources at the Emirates stadium state that, were it not for the injury he sustained, he may have even been on the pitch or at least made the bench for Arsenal’s recent Europa league game against Red Star Belgrade.
