Arsenal are ready to fight Liverpool in the battle to sign in-demand Brazilian Luan.
According to the Sun, Gremio hit man Luan quit football eight years ago as he wanted to make a career as a futsal ace.
But he returned to football and is seen as the next South American to follow Gabriel Jesus and Neymar footsteps to Europe – with a host of the club desperate to sign him.
Luan could reportedly be available for around £30m with Gremio have already rejected a bid of £17m from Russian side Spartak Moscow during the summer transfer window.
Luan has one international cap and recently helped his club to the final of the Copa Libertadores with a brace – which took him to 16 goals this season.
Luan has played in 182 games and scored 53 goals for the club. He won the Copa do Brazil in 2016 with Gremio.
He has been linked with Liverpool, but the Gunners are now eyeing the striker.
Luan was named in Brazil’s provisional squad for Copa América Centenario but was cut from the final squad. Later in the season, he was selected as a member of Brazil’s squad for the 2016 Summer Olympics, and Luan won the gold medal in Rio last year.
