New Twist: Sanchez & Ozil Out, Aubameyang & Lemar In Ahead Of January

Goonersden brings you news from top football news sites from the likes of ESPN, SkySport, Daily Mail, Daily Star and Metro… We also Analyse football, player, transfer and predict Arsenal starting line-up.

Every Arsenal fans and neutrals know it is only a matter of when and not if Sanchez is going to be leaving Arsenal once his contract with the Gunners expires. The South American has so far turned down all overtures from Arsenal for a new contract and unless something drastic happens between now and next summer, the former Udinese and Barcelona star could be off.

He could even leave as early as the January window as Arsenal are very likely to be welcoming to bids from clubs in a bid to ensure they do not lose him on a free transfer. Manchester City, PSG, Juventus, Inter Milan, AC Milan and recently Everton have all been linked with the signing of the 29-year-old.

Had Wenger done the right business last summer transfer window Sanchez could have been forced to change his mind but the lack of reasonable activities last summer transfer window has seen the odds of Sanchez and even Ozil leaving decline in the last weeks.

In Sanchez’s replacement, Arsenal looking to sign Thomas Lemar from AS Monaco. They had tried to sign the Frenchman last summer but failed and from all indication, they will give it another go either in January or in the summer transfer window.

Personally, I believe Arsenal should instead go for someone like Emerick Pierre Aubameyang. The Gabonese is a known and very prolific goal scorer. This is not to say Lemar is a bad player but I personally think Aubameyang will be a better replacement for Sanchez.

Although the African is almost of the same age with Sanchez which means he won’t be around for much longer but he has way more experience than Lemar. And he is likely to be available and be cheaper than Lemar.

Monaco had last summer accepted a bid of £92 million for Lemar but Dortmund are very likely to be willing to do a deal for as little as £50 million for Aubameyang. Which gives Arsenal the chance to spend the rest of the money elsewhere.

Aubameyang is extremely versatile, can play on both wings and as a nine. Lemar at Arsenal will be great but if Ozil is also leaving, which is very likely I think Arsenal if they finally decide to show some ambition, can afford to sign both players. Griezmann for me would have been a much better replacement for Sanchez but as we know, Wenger is never going to spend £100 million on a single player.
