Arsenal have reportedly attempted to steal a race on their opponents in the hunt to land Hamburger SV attacker Jann-Fiete Arp.
The 17-year-old has earlier hit the headlines for netting in consecutive games for Hamburger in the Bundesliga, with the youngster’s first league start for the club coming against Stuttgart on November 4.
The Gunners and Tottenham Hotspur have earlier been linked with Arp however as reported by Bild, Chelsea are ready to challenge their rivals for the youngster’s services.
Earlier this campaign, it was claimed that Chelsea had made a ‘lucrative’ approach for Arp, but negotiations are now believed to have officially started between the respective sides.
Arp has just a year left on his deal, which Hamburger are keen to extend to head coach Markus Gisdol starting to show faith in the hot prospect in the first team.
