According to reports from Sky Sports, Manchester United have joined Arsenal and Barcelona for Leon Goretzka’s signature in January.

Leon Goretzka 22, is currently one of the most sought-after players in the transfer market as top European teams are vying for his services.

Manchester United manager José Mourinho is keen to bolster his squad, especially in the middle of the pack in January.

After uncertainty over his bid for Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil, the Portuguese manager is now looking towards Goretzka direction.

Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for the player since August but nothing happened in terms of contract talks.

Manchester will have to battle Barcelona and Arsenal for Leon Goretzka.

Shalke 04 seem unwilling to let go of their midfielder as they are planning on extending his contract.

The contract extension is said to come with an increased weekly wage which would make him the highest paid player int he club’s history.

Should Goretzka commits his future to the German side, Manchester will have to turn elsewhere for their midfield reinforcement.

Goretzka has scored four goals from nine appearances for Shalke who occupy the third position with 24 points after 13 round of matches in the German League

José Mourinho has been told by United’s board of directors to offload some players who are not playing regularly as soon as January transfer market opens.

The money realized from the sales of these players would be used to sign new players.
