Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah is among three youngsters to have committed their futures to the club by signing new long-term contracts.
Nketiah shot to prominence during last month’s EFL Cup win over Norwich, scoring with his first touch to send the fifth round tie into extra time before sending Arsenal through to a quarter final against West Ham with the winning goal.
The 18-year-old, who was previously on Chelsea’s books, has made three other first team appearances and has been singled out for praise by Arsene Wenger. ‘He was decisive and overall he has the flair to anticipate when you are in the box,” Wenger said after the win against Norwich.
‘That’s a quality you cannot give at that age anymore. You either have it or you don’t, so that’s very positive for him. ‘I like the header as well that he scored because he’s not tall. He was very high and it shows that determination when heading is there for the guy that wants it.’ Nketiah has been joined by goalkeeper Matt Macey and Ben Sheaf in penning new contracts.
