Santi Cazorla has had NINE (!!) operations and now faces an uncertain future with Arsene Wenger sharing what the Spaniard sent to him via text message.
Cazorla, 32, hasn’t been in action for Arsenal since October 2016 following a slew of injuries. Surgeons have opened up his Achilles nine times to repair damages.
And after going under the knife, once again, Wenger has provided a very sad injury update, while revealing what Cazorla said to him.
“I sent him a message because he had surgery and wished him well. He (Cazorla) answered ‘I have to start again from zero’,” he said via Euro Sport.
“It’s very sad. What Santi has gone through is unbelievable. It’s really, really sad. But unfortunately he has to start again from zero.
Wenger added: “If all goes well he has to wait until he starts to run and after he starts to run it takes six weeks to come back to training.
“When he can start to run again I don’t know. I was hopeful of January, but after this setback certainly now not before February.
The midfielder maestro’s Arsenal contract will expire at the end of the season. The fresh setback unfortunately doesn’t give the player any time to prove he warrants a new deal.
There were even fears Cazorla had to have his foot amputated as a result of a infection in his Achilles. Fortunately, no procedure transpired.
Here’s to a speedy recovery, Santi. Get well soon.
