Steven N’Zonzi has flown into London once again as speculation continues to grow that he could be on his way back to the Premier League in January.
The midfielder has fallen out of favour at Sevilla following a row with coach Eduardo Berizzo, which took place during the half-time interval of their Champions League clash with Liverpool last month.
N’Zonzi eventually left the stadium altogether and accused his manager of favoritism before skipping training the following day and then flying into England.
His arrival at Heathrow sparked speculation that he could be on his way to Arsenal in January, with reports in Spanish publication AS suggesting Arsene Wenger was keen to bring him to the Emirates.
Sevilla’s chairman insisted, however, that the midfielder had travelled to England to see his son – with the club’s wishes.
N’Zonzi then confirmed this, but stated that although he wasn’t in England for transfer talks, that he was looking to leave Sevilla.
“My future is clearly elsewhere than in Seville,” he told France Football in an interview translated by Sport Witness. “The only thing that disappoints me is the manner in which this is ending.”
N’Zonzi then returned to Spain but he continues to be linked with a move to the Premier League, with Arsenal and Everton the two clubs constantly being linked.
Sam Allardyce is said to be a big fan of the France midfielder, who has a £35m release clause, and reports suggest he is keen to take him to Goodison when the window opens next month.
And rumours of an imminent move to the Premier League will be fueled once again by N’Zonzi’s arrival in the country late on Tuesday night.
The midfielder flew into Gatwick where he was greeted by a waiting driver before being whisked away, but not before he was spotted by eagle-eyed football fans who were in the same terminal.
Given his son is here, it’s likely that N’Zonzi is simply visiting once again ahead of the festive period – but with the midfielder looking to secure a permanent exit from Spain, rumours will continue to persist of a return to the Premier League.
