Scudetto Champions Juventus are set to compete with Manchester United for Arsenal Playmaker Mesut Ozil. According to Italian media outlet Calciomercato, the 29-year-old midfielder is one of Juventus prime targets in the summer transfer market.

Mesut Ozil who will be out of contract in the summer has shown his readiness to quit working under Arsene Wenger as he wants a move out of the North London club as a free agent in the summer.

José Mourinho has earlier shown his desire to sign the player once he sees off his contract with the Gunners at the end of the season.

The Germany International has been a source of transfer speculations since the Gunners 10-2 aggregate defeat to Bayern Munich last season. United, Madrid, PSG and have all shown interest in the playmaker. The Catalans have reportedly pulled out of the race as they have unveiled their new signing, Phillipe Coutinho who moved to Camp Nou for a British record fee of £142million from Liverpool.

Calciomercato further reveals that the Old Lady have been monitoring the player’s progress since 2015-16 season.

It is believed that Manchester United are ahead of Juventus in the race for Ozil’s signature as they can lure him to Old Trafford by exploring the relationship he has with Mourinho during their time at Santiago Benarbeu.

Juventus are also looking at the prospect of using Sami Khedira’s influence to bring the player to Turin. Khedira has a great relationship Mesut Ozil as they both play for the Germany national team and were teammates at Real Madrid.

Ozil was dropped from Arsenal’s match-day squad as the Gunners crashed out of FA Cup competition in the third-round stage after losing 4-2 to Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
