French star and Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin has agreed to join Spanish La Liga side Valencia on a four-and-a-half-year deal, per reports emanating from France.

The signing of Granit Xhaka to Arsenal to Arsenal last season somewhat signaled the beginning of the end of Coquelin’s Arsenal career. He has made only one start in the Premier League this season and his best bet at playing regularly is away from the Emirates.

Reports were rife this week that the central midfielder will join Los Che on a loan deal but French publication RMC  are in the claim that the 26-year-old star has agreed terms to switch the Emirates for Mestalla Stadium on a four year plus deal. Nonetheless, the completion of the deal is still subject to a transfer being agreed by Arsenal and Valencia.

Coquelin signed a contract extension with Arsenal until 2021 last season but lack of game time is apparently frustrating his career. He was a key member of the Gunners squad until Xhaka joined from Borussia Monchengladbach in the summer of 2016.

The midfielder is also on the radar of West Ham United but it appears that he wants a move away from the Premier League. The report has claimed that the deal will be completed latest on Thursday.

Arsenal play Chelsea in the Carabao semi-final today and if Coquelin does not feature, we can conclude that he is gearing up for his move. If he leaves on a permanent transfer, then Wenger will be expected to add another midfielder to the side.

Coquelin joined Arsenal from Stade Lavallois in 2008 and has earned 105 league appearances over the years, winning two FA Cups and a Community Shield.
