Chelsea have been scampering for a striker than that will play second fiddle to Spanish striker Alvaro Morata and they have been linked with a move for former Liverpool star Andy Carroll. Than sign the English star, Arsenal legend Ray Parlour has asked Antonio Conte to sign Olivier Giroud, according to reports.

Conte has already bolstered his midfield with the signing of Ross Barkley but he is on the look out for a striker that can be an option to Morata, who has been experiencing a dip in his form. The Blues have a second striker in Mitchy Batshuayi, but the Belgian is on the verge of completing a loan move.

Chelsea have been heavily linked with a move for Andy Carroll and many pundits have claimed that the forward will add little or nothing to the title ambition of Chelsea. Parlour has asked Conte to look to the direction of Giroud, who will be open to a move away from Arsenal even if Arsene Wenger may not want to let him leave.

‘He would be perfect, Parlour told Sky Sports. ‘Whether Arsenal would want to lose another of their players to a rival is another matter.

‘But I am sure if Chelsea put a decent bid in he would be tempted because he hasn’t got to move, he can live in London, a bit like Petr Cech. He was settled in London and wanted to stay there.’

Despite coming in as a sub more often than not, Giroud has always found the back of the net for Arsenal whenever it matter. Former Arsenal star midfielder has also learnt his voice to Parlours thought and he agreed with him.

‘It’s staring Chelsea straight in the eye,’ Merson said. ‘They were looking at Carroll, now they are talking about Crouch – Giroud is the answer. ‘If they are looking for someone who is big and strong and can come on and change a game I don’t see anybody better. Giroud is very underrated.’
