Arsenal’s chase for Gabon international and Borrussia Dortmund prolific scorer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has reportedly hit a snag.
The Gunners have already sold Theo Walcott and Alexis Sanchez from the Club but they are yet to fill the void created by the departure of Sanchez, with Auba targeted as his probable replacement.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan joined Arsenal in a swap deal with Sanchez but Wenger is keen on adding another world class striker before the close of the window. Arsenal had made a bid for Auba but it was rebuffed as it is given that is was short of the £55million evaluation of the German Club – negotiations may drag on until the final day of the window.
Confirming Arsenal’s interest and bid, Chief executive Ivan Gazidis and head scout Sven Mislintat were spotted in London as they tried to broker a deal for the 28-year-old forward. However, Giroud is also heavily linked with a move to Dortmund but the brass of the Bundesliga side have claimed that their move for the French forward is independent of Auba’s deal.
According to the Daily Mail, Dortmund have been foot-dragging over the deal as they are yet to sign a replacement for the Gabonese. Nonetheless, Arsenal are very confident of securing the services of Aubameyang, according to the report.
There is somewhat a silent revolution at Arsenal and Giroud should be added to the list of exited players to afford him more game time methinks.
